Re-roof or Tear-off?

A re-roof is in order when your existing roof has only one layer of roof material on it. In addition, that existing layer should be in good condition, meaning the shingles are not cracked or curling and there is no evidence of rotten wood.

A tear-off is necessary if there are two or more layers of roof material currently on your home. Once your old roof is torn off a thorough inspection of your roof decking will be conducted. At this time any rotten wood will be replaced, insuring your home’s long-term structural integrity.

If your existing roof is leaking, Ridgecon recommends a complete roof tear-off, even if there is only one layer of roof material. A thorough roof deck inspection will be performed and any rotten wood replaced.

Once the roof decking is up to code, a modern roof system will be installed. Today’s roofing materials roofing materials are lighter, safer, more economical and protective. Your relatively new home may not have the benefit of products like ice shield (essential in preventing ice damming).
